The professional body for HR

EDI

An introduction

This SIG is designed to be more than a practitioner support network; it is a space for meaningful dialogue, challenge and change. We aim to bring together professionals who are committed to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion through critical thinking, evidence-based practice and collective action.

The group will take a thoughtful and analytical approach to EDI, moving beyond compliance-driven discussions to explore what genuinely creates fairer, more inclusive organisations. Each session will focus not only on sharing insights and emerging evidence, but also on answering the crucial question of “so what?” ensuring participants leave with practical, actionable ideas they can apply in their own contexts.

A key focus of the SIG will be the behaviours, cultures and systems that shape inclusion. While diversity data and metrics have their place, our discussions will place greater emphasis on understanding lived experiences, influencing organisational culture, and driving sustainable behavioural change. Through challenge, learning and collaboration, the SIG will seek to support members in becoming more effective agents of change within their organisations and wider professional communities.

Once you have signed up, you will be invited to take part in smaller group discussions, some of which will be in person, which will give you the opportunity to share your own experiences with the group, take part in more informal and in-depth discussions and contribute to debates. Equally, this also means you will have the opportunity to develop your network of peers and share and draw on resources from outside of your own organisation.

We strongly encourage members to get involved with these groups as they are a wonderful opportunity to expand your horizons and broaden your network as part of CityHR.
