The professional body for HR

ESG

An introduction

The ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Special Interest Group is co-led by Jemima Coleman (Simmons & Simmons) and Julie Aspinall (LGIM) and the group takes the opportunity to approach the topic of ESG in its most broad sense.

The aim of this group is to establish a networking, knowledge sharing and education forum for HR on all aspects of ESG to better support both employees and the business, to help share knowledge, insights and experience of how HR teams are contributing to their firm’s ESG strategy in relation to sustainability, diversity and inclusion, HR policies, learning and education, and how linking pay to organisational and individual performance targets can further the ESG agenda.

Who's it for

As a relatively new topic to some HR professionals, the informal virtual meetings and in person roundtables have centred on knowledge sharing and skills building. The virtual City HR Community Chats hosted by the ESG Special Interest Group have looked at some of the following areas for consideration:

  • An update from COP28 and an introduction to decarbonisation
  • ESG strategies and impacting change

Once you have signed up, you will be invited to take part in smaller group discussions, some of which will be in person, which will give you the opportunity to share your own experiences with the group, take part in more informal and in-depth discussions and contribute to debates. Equally, this also means you will have the opportunity to develop your network of peers and share and draw on resources from outside of your own organisation.

We strongly encourage members to get involved with these groups as they are a wonderful opportunity to expand your horizons and broaden your network as part of CityHR.
